Where to store my fire hoop?

Hello everyone,

After hooping for about a year I finally got my first go with a fire hoop this weekend, and I'm already addicted! I need to get a fire hoop ASAP!

However, I live in a large apartment building and don't think it would be wise to store fire toys in my building. So I am wondering to those of you that have this same situation - where do you store your fire toys? Is it safe to keep toys and fuel in the trunk of my car? Or do I need to find someone who will let me use their garage?

Thanks!

i dont think your building would have a problem with you storing it in your apartment. unlit and away from heat it's not a fire hazard. i wouldn't keep my toys in my car unless i was travelling. even then. the less time in the car, the better typically. have you ever done that with a normal hoop? it can mess up your tape job and warp your hoop itself. fuel? idk... cars just get hot in the summer, i'd avoid keeping anything flammable in there! i highly doubt that your car would get hot enough to combust your fuel or any remainder of fuel on your wicks, but i'd say your apt is your safest bet. if you think the door man or soemone in charge might give you grief about tkaing the fire hoop in, get a hoop with removable wicks? then it doesn't look any different than your regular hoops when you carry it thru the lobby, in the elevator etc.

I agree. I keep all my fire toys in my house. I just put socks over the wicks so I don't get black ick on anything.

Do you keep your fuel in the house too? I am just a little paranoid I guess - I would hate to be "that person" that blew up the apartment building. :)

Does anyone know if/where you can buy fuel in small quantities - single use or double use?

I put mine in the sun for a bit so that they dry out and then put covers on them and there are no problems.

With fuel i tend not to have any over so its never really a problem. I just get a smaller container if i only have a short gig.

i really wouldn't worry too much about that. be careful and conscious of the fact htat it's a flammable liquid, but there's no need to be that paranoid. it's not like plastic explosive. it's not highly volatile in danger of explosion at any second. i use white gas, which comes in a metal can. it hasn't exploded yet and i dont think it will. unless i placed the can on a burner on my stove (which i don't plan on doing! :P) and i'd be willing to bet that in your building there are other tenants who are safely storing flammable liquid.

You can buy quarts at small camp stores, but they will charge you the same as wal mart charges for a gallon. I keep mine in the house. I just make sure it is not right next to the heat vent in the winter.

I definitely recommend purchasing a fire hoop with detachable wicks - Fire Groove or Trick Concepts are examples, but I'm sure there are more on the market. That way, you can take the wicks off and store the hoop much easier than if you have to hang up a big hoop with wicks. In my last apartment, I kept my fuel in a closet - Just put it away from flames and keep it in its original container.

    Happy Hooping!
