My mom asked me what I wanted for my birthday this year- and I really want both a fire hoop, and an LED hoop. I'd feel pretty silly asking for both for one present, and I can't really spring for one on my own. So then I found the Super Wicket. I've searched all over this tribe- maybe I'm blind, but I can't seem to find a review for this hoop by SuperHooper.org?
Does anyone have one? Do you like it? Can you tell me about it? I'd **love** to be able to hoop with fire, but also be able to take the spines off and go clubbing when I want to. Is this hoop really OK to do that? Is it durable? Should I just choose one or the other and fuggedabboutit?
Thanks Hooping friends! :>

Re: Super Wickit?
Sun, May 11, 2008 - 2:45 PMi am not sure how the swich mechanism works on their fire hoop, but the switch mechanism on their regular LED hoop is a simple push button on the outside of the hoop which unfortunately makes it very easy to turn on and off (at times when it is not convenient to turn on and off.) It also seems like the batteries are a challenge to change, I wouldn't know for sure though, because my hoops are sitting in the corner with no power because I am too lazy to figure out what I need to do to replace them. -

Re: Super Wickit?
Mon, May 12, 2008 - 3:58 PMThe disadvantage to the switch mechanism on my SuperHooper hoop is that sometimes someone bumps it, doesn't realize that the lights went on, and the batteries drain. Even with that problem happening at two camping music events, my batteries didn't go dead until after over a year of use.
The batteries aren't all that difficult to change and SuperHooper sends detailed instructions. Having said that, I too left my dark hoop in a corner because I was intimidated by the battery change. Once I found the batteries--I had to go to a camera store and they were not cheap--it was pretty easy to follow the directions and change them out. Hope this helps.

Re: Super Wickit?
Wed, May 28, 2008 - 2:15 PMI got a super wickit for my birthday a year ago and i love love love it!
Its the best of both worlds and I've never had any problems with it. Except I had to change the batteries once due to user error (left it on for I dont know how many days!)
I usually wait to turn the lights on while Im fire hooping until my wicks go out, and then you hear a whole new set of "ohh's and awe's"!
Its the best birthday present I ever got!
Happy Birthday to you

Re: Super Wickit?
Mon, June 23, 2008 - 1:30 PMI have a super wickit. Good stuff. The battery enclosure area is easy to access via a single screw and the batteries are easy to change once you see how it works. The glo lasts over 24 hours of continuous use I can confirm, as I left mine on overnight once and it was still glowing though faded the next night! Buying batteries from superhooper is likely cheaper than buying them as singles from a camera store. The click switch can get turned on by accident I suppose, but you can also tape down the switch for travel or performance when you really dont want to gamble on it going on/off unexpectedly.
I personally dont think the glo detracts from the fire, but its easy enough to turn the glo off and keep it pure fire wicks when using it.
And the metal poles holding the wicks easily unscrew from the hoop along with a washer, and leave it as a standard glo hoop for more casual dancefloor fun. I just used mine to perform at Bonnaroo on Fire, then removed the spokes and ran around all night with it as a normal glo hoop and then put it back togther for a show the next day. Easy as pie! Ive banged the metal spikes on the ground when doing vertical hoop moves and such and the hoop has held up just fine, with the threads and hoop totally intact still, so seems pretty damn sturdy to me. I just tighten the bolts before lighting up every time.
