I've seen this powder used on poi and staves to give a "sparkle effect" even some dramatic color depending on the chemical make-up
of the powder.
But heard that this could damage the wicks after a few uses, and is highly toxic with it's fumes.
And quite a bit costly for a few ounces.
If anyone can verify this info I would like to look further into it's possible uses?
much thanks in advance... :)

Re: sparkler fire wicks?
Thu, July 31, 2008 - 12:56 AMTitanium powder. Yes, pricey
No, non toxic, though not particularly smart for indoors.
Doesn't destroy wicks.
Just rub onto soaked wicks or throw at a large flame.
I keep the link to a source of it on Bearclaw.

Thanks TedWard..
Though I remember seeing Amber (pois in the hood) spinning with this kind of powder and there were different colors based on
the chemical make-up of the powder. For some reason I recal her(someone) saying this was quite toxic and can damage the wicks?
Any further thoughts...?

Sun, August 3, 2008 - 5:17 PMDo yourself a favor, hit it one at a time. The titanium makes sparks, but colored fuels is a much larger kettle of fish...

Sun, August 3, 2008 - 7:55 PMif you check out the http:\\www.homeofpoi.com store they supply some powders you can mix with your fuel to create coloured flame.
It is possible to make this stuff your self but it is a bit of a pain in the but and i'm not sure what they use to get the red flame.
