I fire hooped for the first time last night and it was so incredible. I did 3 sets total, with about 20 people watching. It was freezing cold, but I just kind of forgot about it when the wicks were bring lit. I have to admit, it was pretty scary with the flames building around me and the first few moments of hooping were honestly a little terrifying. I had a few quick thoughts of "WTF am I doing??", but those feelings just burned away (ha) and it was so amazing. I loved the sound of the flames spinning around. I feel like such a badass and I can't wait to do it again! I would love to know about everyone else's first burns as well and their feelings about it.

Re: My virgin burn!
Mon, November 24, 2008 - 6:26 PMi first fire-hooped about a year and a half ago. i remember being excited, but most of all i remember being dizzy from watching the flames while spinning around and my surroundings being relatively dark. also i remember that there was kerosene in the fuel mix, because it was really smokey and i didn't want the hoop near my face for very long. also i couldn't hear the music over the sound of the flames, which surprised me.
i had done other fire spinning and performance years before, so i wasn't really scared, but i was afraid of touching the spines until i found out that they didn't get as hot as i thought they would. also i was lucky to have a super fire safety and cheerleader there. (thanks, Random!) -
