Spokes going out too fast

I have a problem... every time I fire hoop the spokes only stay lit for about a minute. I've tried soaking the wicks for a little bit before lighting up but that doesn't seem to help. I'm using Coleman's camp fuel. I was wondering if maybe there's something faulty about my wicks...? It's really tedious to have to keep dipping the wicks every time they go out and it makes it really tough to practice. Any thoughts.....?

Based on what I could see of your hoop in your pictures, you might just need better wicks, or mix with lamp oil...

How would I go about mixing the two fuels? Equal parts? And what type of lamp oil would be best do you think? If that doesn't help I may get different wicks but I just got the hoop and don't really want to pay 15$ a wick for 6 more! Thanks....

Well, "mixing" is a bit of an antiquated term, really. Just soak or spritz with lamp oil and spin out thoroughly. Then dunk your wicks in white or sprinkle a little one (mostly to get them lit) just before going on and you're ready to go. The idea of concocting a 7:3 mix or something like that is kinda pointless. Essentially you're making kerosene.

Any lamp oil is fine, they'll all give a much longer burn than white.

None of your pictures really show the wicks. Any chance you could take a snapshot of one and post it somewhere? If they're what I think they are, there might be a simple fix for them.

          Hey Tedward~
I put a picture of my wicks in my photos...check it out and let me know what you think....also, do you recommend a particular brand of lamp oil? And where would be the best place to buy some? Thanks!

Is this a new thing or have the wicks been doing it ever since you got them? If it's a new thing, is it possible that your wicks have got damp at some time and never been allowed to dry out? This can cause this problem. If it has always been this way it's probably the wicks. When you soak them do you leave them in the fuel until they stop bubbling?

hmm this is strange and totally understand how annoying that is!! so many wicks to dip having to unscrew them blahhh

Mixing the lamp oil to white gas 50/50 would give you a really looong burn...like 7-10 min maybe!
Doing a 30 oil 70 gas might help and make the flames not as bright or hot.
        GOOD LUCK!
