You can get wicks caught under the leather and the skin itself can absorb quite a bit of fuel, just like most cloth. Plus, make sure you know the flammability of the paint you're using. Test it by painting a rock or something then throwing freshly soaked and lit wicks at it. ANd leather is probably the most durable and fiire resistant material to work with. And you can buy a leather outfit and have it custom painted to your our personal style, resulting in a unique and powerful look. And as for custom or off the shelf looks, you can buy leather goods in either category in pretty much any town in the US. The all you need to do is find a decent artist and commission them to paint your outfit.
