Re: Citronella lamp oil??
Sat, March 21, 2009 - 12:59 PMIf you're putting it on straight kevlar wicks, then yes, it should be fine. However, it will be a little more smokey and will help keep mosquitos away. Not a good choice for indoor use. -

Re: Citronella lamp oil??
Tue, May 26, 2009 - 11:13 AMI like to use 100% Paraffin Lamp oil because it burns really clean with no smoke and not much smell. It isn't as flammable as a lot of fuels out there so it takes patience to get it lit but once it's lit it burns nice and slow. :)
I don't have much patience so I like to mix it 50-50 with Coleman white gas. Then it lights up nice and quick AND burns nice and long.
Paraffin should be available anywhere there's citronella lamp oil, but it depends on the store on what department it's in. I've found it with lawn ornaments, gardening, camping and household items because it's what is used for glass oil candles.
Coleman is most always in a camping department, (because it's made for camping stoves) and I've actually found it at a lot of gas stations.
Good luck on your fuel hunt! It's not a very magical journey, but a journey nonetheless. :) -

Tue, May 26, 2009 - 9:44 PMRobin, please note that Gail is from the UK. Whenever someone is out of the US, you can pretty much guarantee that all the rules change. At least the UK isn't a third world nation where US diesel would be a "clean" fuel, but it IS different enough that the term "paraffin" means very different things than it does here. They do not have Coleman's in Europe, and oddly enough, the right place might sell something like it as "paraffin". -
